Permanent recruitment — Shipper-receiver
You hire directly, on your own payroll. We find, check and present the candidates.
Sector : Warehousing and logistics · NOC 2021 14400
The job
A shipper-receiver is the checkpoint between your warehouse and the rest of the supply chain. They receive goods, compare what arrives against the purchase order and bill of lading, report shortages and damage, then prepare, pack and document outgoing shipments. A mistake at this desk is paid for elsewhere: stock-outs, a customer billed for an incomplete order, a freight claim refused for lack of proof.
Main tasks
- Unload or oversee the unloading of trucks and check pallet condition
- Compare quantities, codes and lots with the purchase order and bill of lading; note discrepancies on the carrier's document
- Enter receipts and shipments in the warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP
- Pick orders, pack, label and produce shipping documents
- Schedule pickups with carriers and keep the dock organised
- Take part in cycle counts
The profile that succeeds
The right profile counts first: they double-check, count again when something looks off, and refuse to sign a delivery slip that doesn't match the pallet. They can calmly explain a discrepancy to a driver in a hurry and leave a written record accounting can find later. In a busy warehouse they keep the dock clear, which reduces accidents and loading errors.
Before you give us the mandate
- State the system used (WMS, ERP, paper) and the usual number of trucks per day
- Say whether forklift driving is part of the job
- Describe the shifts and whether overtime is possible
Usual requirements
The job calls for accuracy with numbers, basic comfort with a terminal or barcode scanner and the ability to handle loads. Many employers also require forklift operation; in that case forklift training recognised by your prevention program is a prerequisite, and the certification supplement (+2) may apply.

What we check
We check real receiving and shipping experience (types of goods, volumes, systems used), forklift training if your role requires it, availability for your shifts, and references with the candidate's consent.
Timeline: depending on the role, usually a few weeks.
How we work
- You sign the agreement online and complete the Job Order (role, wage, shifts, requirements).
- We search and shortlist, then check experience, required certifications and references with consent.
- We present the shortlisted candidates with a written summary; you run your interviews and tests.
- You hire directly. Our fee is only due if you hire, and the 90-day guarantee starts on the start date.
Interview tips for the employer
- Give the candidate a purchase order and a packing slip with three hidden discrepancies: how many do they find, and how do they document them?
- Ask which WMS or ERP they have used and what they do when the system and the pallet don't match
- Walk them through the dock: how they look at the receiving area tells you a lot
Frequently asked questions
Does a shipper-receiver need to drive a forklift?
Not always. Say so in the Job Order; if it's required we only present trained candidates, and the certification supplement may apply.
Do you recruit for evening or night shifts?
Yes. Shifts are written in the Job Order and we check availability before presenting anyone.
How is this different from a storekeeper?
A storekeeper mainly manages storage and internal issues; a shipper-receiver handles goods in and out with carriers. In small companies one person often does both.
Is the wage in the table what I must offer?
No. These are reference wages published by Job Bank; you set the wage, and our fee is calculated on the wage actually offered.
